Since october I know your books. I’ve bought four of the hotel flamingo books in Dutch. My class and I are totally in it! I really like your style! I am a fan! Today I did my first drawinglesson about your caracters of the hotel flamingo books. My plan is to make a a great exposition in my class. I really want to be in contact with you. I think it is getting fantastic and I want to surprise my class with your autograph if it is possible. I also want to buy your pin, but I think it isnt possible because I live in the Netherlands. Begin of October I sent you a message at instagram, you didn’t answer.
Do you have free posters/cards/gadgets about hotel flamingo? I already have the free downloads.
I also want to make my own childrenbook. I already got 9 stories. Maybe you’ve got some tips. Last year a made a great exposition about mammoths, dodo’s and dinosaurs and I wrote Paddy Donnely (children book maker living in Belgium)
I really hope that you ‘ll answer me. But I am not very handy with this. For me is an email better or an answer at Instagram.
I love reading Hotel Flamingo to my classes and recommend your books when parents ask what their younger children should read.
I was pretty starstruck all those years ago chatting to you on Twitter (about religion in school) one Sunday and I realised I was talking to a published author! And it was lovely meeting you when you came and did an event at the school I worked at!
I believe overall it pays to be kind, I don’t want to be anything else. I was brought up to be a good person and have passed that on to my daughters.
You're too kind! I still remember the visit, though, and meeting you. Twitter was so good for that back in the day. And i hope I've taught my daughters the same. 🤞
We hosted a couple from Taipei a decade or so ago. Didn’t know them at all until they walked through the door, but we’re still firm friends. I know more people across the world than I do in London weirdly.
Aw man, that's wonderful. It's a real privilege, isn't it? I was so happy for my daughters to meet her, and just have their eyes widened a bit. The world outside of Britain is a friendly place, and sometimes it's easy to forget that.
Thank you for reading my message. I have a few questions for you...
- I want to make viewing boxes and I wonder if its opssible for you to make mini figures that I can use (free template) or I want your permission that I can make copies.
- Do you have coloring pages of your great figures? Or can you make them, so that I could use them in my class?
- Can I buy your Flamingo pin? Can I buy your clay figures?
- Is it possible to have your autograph for everybody in my class?
- I want to make a competition of the viewing boxes. Do you want to be an online jury?
I want to send you pictures of everything that I will make in my class...
- Do you have posters or prints that I can buy?
You surely notices that I am a great fan of your work! I do'n't know when the exposition will be...I want to work at it when I have time and first we have a very busy Decembermonth...
Alex, it’s been on my mind for a while how your very tender description of life with long covid is startlingly reminiscent of my experience of living with chronic depression - the leadenness that seeps into every facet of one’s experience and the dog tiredness, and vague memories of the other person you inhabited. And I relate to this to - this is why I left working in mental health and bought an ice cream van, because spreading joy feels a lot more doable than stemming the flow of sadness! A trick Christy has taught me lately is that it’s impossible not to smile when whigfield is playing, and though at full volume with the car windows down is a whiteknuckle experience I have seen smiles amongst the bafflement of passers by. I’m so excited about this book, and she will be insanely so when it comes out, because she was asking only the other day what she needed to do to get a book dedication so seeing her name in print will be Job Done. Your mum and nan sound great, and I like the idea of Aggy getting a taste for exotic snacks x
